Northern Kentucky vs. Wright State prediction, line: Take the Under

Wright State has scored at least 70 points in all but one of its games this season. That stat will be put to the test Friday when the Raiders face a Northern Kentucky bunch that recently has been clamping down on defense.

The Norse have allowed just one of their last eight opponents to exceed 70 points since they lost 95-63 at Wright State on Jan. 24.

In that game, Dantez Walton, who leads Northern Kentucky with 16.4 points and 6.9 rebounds per game, did not play. Now he’s back to playing his normal amount of minutes after missing the beginning of conference play due to injury.

Wright State has allowed just one team to score more than 71 points in its last five games, and that was an overtime game in which Cleveland State got to 74. A big reason why is despite playing at a fast pace, ranking 24th in the country in possessions per game, the Raiders also rank 26th in fewest fouls committed on a per-possession basis.

Northern Kentucky was unable to slow down the game in the first matchup, but with a healthy Walton the past three games, has ranked 280th in possessions per game in that span.

The improved defense of Wright State coupled with Northern Kentucky slowing games down should lead to more of a defensive battle than the first matchup and a slower game in general than most expect.

The play: Wright State-Northern Kentucky, Under 145.
